Welcome to the Joye Research Group!
We explore the oceans and conduct interdisciplinary research to reveal the microbial underpinnings of elemental cycling. We conduct interdisciplinary research to discover, document, and understand the complex biogeochemical feedbacks that generate patterns of elemental cycling in the ocean. We work across ocean systems and ocean basins, studying elemental cycling in nearshore hypoxic zones and in deep sea extreme environments. Our overarching purpose is to elucidate feedbacks between microbiological, environmental, and geochemical dynamics. Our work examines the effects of climate change and anthropogenic perturbations on key environmental processes to gain a better understanding of how future changes will impact ecosystem functioning.
Join us to foster ocean exploration and discovery in some of the most incredible habitats on Earth!
